Squarespace

Publish blog posts to Squarespace.

Squarespace doesn't offer a public API for creating blog posts, so Grandranker connects to Squarespace sites in one of two ways:

  • Hosted Blog (recommended): Grandranker hosts your blog on your own subdomain (e.g. blog.yourdomain.com). Nothing to paste into Squarespace, nothing to maintain. A theme change on your site can't break it. See the Hosted Blog guide.
  • Embed widget: a small HTML snippet pasted into a Squarespace Code block that renders your published articles on a page of your site. This option appears for accounts that already use the embed. New accounts are guided to the Hosted Blog instead.

What you need: edit access to your Squarespace site. For the embed method, Squarespace Code blocks are available on Business plans and higher.

How to Connect

If you don't see the Squarespace card in Grandranker, use the Hosted Blog. It's the recommended path for new connections. For the embed method:

  1. In Grandranker, open Integrations β†’ Add New Integration at app.grandranker.com/integrations/create and pick Squarespace.
  2. Copy the HTML snippet shown on the page. It's a <div id="grandranker-articles"> placeholder plus one <script> tag.
  3. In Squarespace, open the page where you want articles to appear.
  4. Click an insert point β†’ add a Code block (found under "More").
  5. Paste the snippet into the Code block and save. Your articles will load on every page view.
  6. Back in Grandranker, click Activate embed. Once activated, every article you publish is automatically added to the feed the widget displays.

The integration page also offers two optional feeds you can use instead of (or alongside) the widget:

  • RSS feed: standards-compliant RSS 2.0 with full article content. Works with anything that imports from RSS (Zapier, Make, IFTTT, Feedly, and more).
  • JSON feed: a CORS-open JSON endpoint with your published articles, if you'd rather build your own display.

Publishing & Verifying

Publish an article in Grandranker and it appears in the widget on your Squarespace page automatically. No configuration is needed on the host page. To verify, open the Squarespace page in a browser and confirm the article list renders where you placed the Code block.

Troubleshooting

The Code block option isn't available

Squarespace Code blocks require a Business plan or higher. On lower plans, use the Hosted Blog instead. It needs no changes to your Squarespace site at all.

The widget doesn't show any articles

  • Confirm you clicked Activate embed in Grandranker. The widget only serves articles after activation.
  • Check the snippet was pasted in full: both the <div id="grandranker-articles"> line and the <script> line.
  • Only published articles appear in the feed. Publish at least one article in Grandranker first.

The snippet was removed after a redesign

Re-editing or rebuilding a Squarespace page can drop Code blocks. Re-add a Code block and paste the snippet again. Copy it any time from the Squarespace integration page in Grandranker. If this keeps happening, the Hosted Blog avoids the problem entirely.

I want article pages, not just a list

The embed renders your articles inside the page that hosts the widget. If you want each article on its own URL with full control, the Hosted Blog serves every article as a real page on your subdomain.
