Queries & Prompts

Manage the prompts Grandranker checks across AI platforms.

Queries are the questions Grandranker asks AI models on your behalf, things like "What are the best project management tools?" Every scan runs your active queries across the AI platforms you monitor, and every metric in AI Overviews is built from the answers. You manage them on the Queries tab of AI Overviews.

Monitored AI queries and their sentiment per platform

The Monitored Queries table

The table header shows how many active queries you have against your limit (for example 7/10). Each row shows the query text, its category, and its sentiment. You can:

  • Search queries with the search box.
  • Filter by category (Comparison, How To, Best Of, Industry) and status (Active or Paused).
  • Sort by clicking the Query column header.
  • Edit or delete a single query with the row actions.
  • Bulk select rows with the checkboxes and delete them together.

Click a query to open its detail page, which shows the actual AI responses per platform, how many platforms mentioned your brand, how many cited your site, and a date picker to compare responses across scan dates.

Adding queries

There are several ways to build your query list:

Add manually

Click Add to open the "Add Monitoring Query" dialog. Enter the query text (e.g. "What are the best project management tools?") and optionally pick a category: Product Comparison, How To, Best Of, or Industry.

Let AI suggest queries

The suggest action generates queries from your brand profile: the questions a potential customer in your industry would realistically ask an AI assistant. This also runs automatically the first time you open AI Overviews and click Run First Scan.

Import from keywords

If you already track keywords in Grandranker, you can convert them into monitoring queries in one click. Imports stop when you reach your active query limit.

Discover

The discover action proposes additional relevant queries; review the discovered list and add the ones you want individually.

Query limits

There is a maximum number of active queries per domain (10 by default). If you hit the limit, adding or activating more returns the message "Maximum of 10 active queries allowed. Deactivate some queries first." Pause queries you care less about instead of deleting them. Paused queries keep their history and can be reactivated later.

Weekly scans check your top active queries, so keep the list focused on the questions that actually drive buying decisions in your niche. Ten sharp queries beat fifty vague ones.

Acting on query results

From the query list you can bulk-generate articles for selected queries. If AI models are not mentioning you for a query, publishing a page that directly answers it is the most reliable fix. The generated article lands in your content pipeline like any other draft. Queries where competitors appear but you don't are surfaced separately as content gaps; see Citations & Content Gaps.

FAQ

What makes a good monitoring query?

Write it the way a customer would ask an AI assistant: a full question with purchase intent, such as "What is the best invoicing tool for freelancers?" rather than a bare keyword like "invoicing tool".

Can I monitor queries in other languages?

Yes. A query can be translated into additional languages, creating separate tracked queries for each language, so you can see how AI answers differ per market.

Do paused queries count against my limit?

No. The limit applies to active queries only. Pausing a query frees a slot immediately.
