GEO Audit
Audit how ready your site is for generative engine optimization.
The Site Audit (found as Site Audit in the sidebar, at app.grandranker.com/geo-audit) checks how ready your website is for generative engine optimization. It verifies whether AI search engines can crawl, parse, and cite it alongside classic technical and on-page SEO. It runs 30+ checks and turns the failures into a ranked fix list.

Running an audit
There are two modes:
- Quick Audit: audits your site's main page. Fast, good for a first look or re-checking after a fix.
- Full Site Audit: crawls the pages found in your sitemap and audits each one. The button shows how many pages your sitemap contains. Progress is shown while pages are crawled.
If Grandranker picked up the wrong sitemap, you can set a sitemap URL override from the audit page.
What gets checked
Checks are grouped into three categories:
AI-Crawlability
The GEO-specific checks: llms.txt, JSON-LD schema, robots.txt rules, FAQ schema, content readability, and whether AI crawlers can access your site at all. These determine whether AI engines can find and understand your content well enough to cite it.
Technical SEO
SSL certificate, sitemap, canonical URLs, mobile viewport, page speed, broken links, HTTP security headers, mixed content, redirect chains, hreflang, meta robots, HTML lang/charset, favicon, deprecated HTML, text-to-HTML ratio, render-blocking resources, resource hints, and inline CSS.
On-Page
Meta title, meta description, heading hierarchy, Open Graph tags, Twitter cards, and image optimization.
Each check reports Passed, Warning, Failed, or Not Found, and carries an effort estimate: "~5 min fix", "~30 min fix", or "Needs developer". Click a check to open its detail panel with an explanation and recommendations; checks that don't apply to your site are excluded from the score.
Reading the results
- Site Score: the headline score for the audit. A full site audit also shows the average score across crawled pages.
- Top Fixes: after a full site audit, concrete fix proposals sorted by impact. Fix these first for the biggest improvements. Each proposal can be applied or dismissed; when a fix touches an article Grandranker generated, applying it offers a one-click Republish so the fix goes live on your connected CMS.
- Cross-Page Issues: problems affecting multiple pages (for example, duplicate title tags), with severity and the number of affected pages.
- Site-Level Checks: the full check list, filterable by category.
- Page results: for full site audits, a per-page table sortable by score so you can find your weakest pages.
You can export the whole report as a PDF with the Export PDF button, useful for handing to a developer or a client.
Schema fixes don't always need a developer: the audit surfaces schema opportunities and can generate the JSON-LD for you, and apply it to content Grandranker publishes.
FAQ
How is this different from a normal SEO audit?
It includes one, but the AI-Crawlability category is what most SEO tools skip: llms.txt, FAQ schema, readability, and AI crawler access are the signals generative engines use when deciding what to cite. Fixing them directly supports the visibility you track in AI Overviews.
How often should I re-run the audit?
Re-run after you ship fixes to confirm they registered, and after major site changes (redesign, migration, new CMS). The report shows when the site was last scanned.
The audit says a check needs a developer. What do I do?
Export the PDF and send it over; a developer can act on it without access to your Grandranker account.
