Geogrid Rankings & Local Pack

See where you rank across the map grid and in the local pack.

The Rankings page under Local SEO shows your Google Maps visibility across a grid of points around your business, plus your position in the local pack (the map results shown for local searches).

Ranking heatmap (geogrid scans)

A geogrid scan checks a keyword's Google Maps results from many points around your location and plots your position at each one:

  1. Enter a keyword (for example "plumber" or "dentist near me").
  2. Run the scan. Grandranker lays a grid (3×3, 5×5 or 7×7 points) over a radius of 1, 3, 5 or 10 miles around your business and queries Maps results at every point.
  3. Each grid point gets a color by your position there:
    • Green: top 3 (you're in the local pack at that spot)
    • Yellow: positions 4-10
    • Orange: positions 11-20
    • Red: below 20
    • Gray: not found

Above the map you'll see the scan's summary: average position, how many points you were found at (for example "Found: 18/25"), and how many points are top 3.

Filters

  • All: every point.
  • Top 3: where you're already in the pack.
  • Easy wins: points where you rank 4-10, one push from the pack.
  • Not visible: points where you don't appear (or rank below 20).

Scan all focus keywords

Instead of scanning one keyword at a time, scan all queues a heatmap for each of your focus keywords in one click (bounded per run, with a cost estimate and confirmation shown first). Repeat clicks the same day won't re-run keywords that were already scanned.

Automatic re-scans

Grandranker re-runs heatmaps on a schedule: focus keywords roughly every 14 days, other tracked keywords about every 30 days. Past scans are kept in a history list so you can compare how coverage changed over time.

If Google doesn't publish coordinates for your listing (common for service-area businesses that hide their address), Grandranker falls back to your city and region to place the grid center. You can also enter a city to scan around when no location coordinates are available.

Local pack tracking

Grandranker snapshots your local pack position for each tracked local keyword and keeps the history:

  • Current position per keyword, with a badge: green for top 3 (in the pack), amber for 4-10, red below that, or "Not found".
  • Position change since the previous snapshot, with an up/down indicator.
  • Trend chart of your position over time: switch the window (for example last 30 days) to see the longer arc.
  • Competitors: who occupies the results for that keyword, with their rating, review count and category, and a marker for your own listing.

Snapshots run on a schedule, so data appears after the first snapshot completes and grows from there.

FAQ

How long does a scan take?

A 5×5 scan runs 25 separate Maps queries, one per grid point. The page polls progress and shows the map as soon as the scan completes, usually within a few minutes.

Why is my business "Not found" at some points?

Google's Maps results are distance-sensitive. Being invisible two miles away is normal for competitive keywords. Focus on the "Easy wins" points first.

Can I delete old scans?

Yes, completed scans can be deleted from the history. Scans that are still running can't be deleted until they finish.

Which location do scans use?

The primary location by default. With multiple locations, switch profiles and scan each one separately. Positions are recorded per location.
