AI Visibility
Platforms & Competitors
Choose AI platforms to monitor and compare against competitors.
Not every AI model treats your brand the same way. ChatGPT might recommend you constantly while Perplexity never mentions you. The Platforms and Competitors tabs of AI Overviews break your visibility down along those two axes: per AI model, and per competing brand.

Choosing platforms to monitor
Open the Settings tab and use the Platforms section to select which AI platforms Grandranker scans. Available platforms:
- Google AIO (AI Overviews in Google Search)
- Google AI Mode
- ChatGPT
- Perplexity
- Claude
- Gemini
- DeepSeek
- Grok
A newly enabled platform has no data yet, so it can be scanned immediately. You don't have to wait for the weekly cooldown that applies to platforms already scanned.
The Platforms tab
Each monitored platform gets a card, sorted by mention rate, showing:
- Mentions: how often that model brings up your brand for your queries.
- Citations: how often it links your site as a source.
- Sentiment: Positive, Neutral, or Negative, based on how the model describes you.
- SoV: your share of voice on that platform.
- Rank: your average position when the model lists brands.
Platforms that answer with live web search (Google AIO, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grok) carry a "Web search" badge. These are the ones most influenced by fresh content and citations.
Below the cards you get Sentiment by AI model (a per-platform positive/neutral/negative breakdown scored out of 100), Platform trends over time (how visibility changed on each platform across scans), and a query-by-platform matrix showing exactly which queries you appear for on which model.
The Competitors tab
The Competitors tab shows where you stand against other brands AI mentions in your industry:
- Brand Leaderboard: all brands ranked by how often AI mentions them, with your brand highlighted.
- Comparison table: side-by-side metrics for you and each competitor.
- Visibility over time: trend lines comparing your visibility against competitors across scans.
- Visibility by topic: a radar chart of how well AI knows you across different query categories (shown once you have at least three categories with data).
The Dashboard tab also plots everyone on a competitive quadrant so you can see at a glance who leads on mentions versus citations.
Where competitors come from
By default, Grandranker detects competitors from your brand profile and from the brands AI models actually name alongside you in responses. To pin the list manually, open Settings β Brand & Identity and add names under Competitors Override. When set, those names are tracked instead of the detected defaults.
While you're there, also add Brand Aliases: alternative names AI platforms might use for your brand (abbreviations, old names, common misspellings). Without aliases, a response that mentions you under a variant name may not be counted.
Remember to click Save after changing settings. Platform, alias, and competitor changes only apply once saved.
FAQ
Why does a competitor show higher visibility than me even though my product is better?
AI models reward citable content, not product quality. Check the Content Gaps report to see which queries they win, and publish content that answers those queries.
Can I track a competitor's domain, not just their brand name?
Yes. In Settings β Tracked Domains, add any domain to compare how often it gets cited by AI models versus yours.
Do more platforms mean slower scans?
Each platform is scanned by its own job, so enabling more platforms doesn't slow down the others. It just adds more data to your weekly snapshot.
